Every year at the beginning of the year, ILGA Europe publishes a report on the development of LGBTIQ+ rights over the past 12 months in Europe and Central Asia. On 16 February, ILGA Europe published this report for the 10th time and the outlook is not rosy, to say the least.

As you might expect, most of 2020 was dominated by the ubiquitous Covid 19 pandemic. This was reflected in a new section that aimed to describe the work of local LGBTIQ+ organisations during the pandemic. In addition, there are growing indications in many countries that more and more governments want to follow the examples of Poland and Hungary and restrict the rights of queer people. ILGA Europe notes that homophobic hate speech and crimes have increased enormously across Europe, both from official institutions and in the media.

Rosa Lëtzebuerg, as an ILGA member, is involved in the elaboration of the Annual Report and contributes every year the information on the Luxemburg chapter. The current report on the Luxemburg can be found on page 76 or on the info page. On the website of the Woxx magazine, the report has been summarised very clearly.

In the days leading up to IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia) on 17 May, the ILGA Europe Rainbow Index is traditionally published. The work on its completion is currently underway. Here, too, we are involved as local contact persons for the transmission of our results.
